Scott Goodman has spent over 4 decades practicing exclusively in the area of criminal law, as both a prosecutor and a defense lawyer. He has tried thousands of cases in area courts, including almost 200 jury cases. Scott has also taught continuing legal education classes to lawyers from all over Virginia, and has taught criminal law to new police officers at the State Police Academy.

Alex Goodman is an experienced trial attorney who joined his father Scott’s criminal defense firm in 2024. He served as a prosecutor from 2018-2024, prosecuting many serious and complex criminal matters as a Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Louisa County. Prior to that, Alex was a Fellow with the Petersburg Public Defender’s Office. Alex has experience handling almost every type of criminal case, including murder, manslaughter, rape, RICO, and drug distribution. He has learned from some of the leading experts in the area of digital evidence and is known for effectively using technology in the courtroom. Alex is a native of the Charlottesville area and he received his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2018.
